What is the Platform BKW?
The Platform BKW is an organization that furthers the interests of artists living in or working in the city of Wageningen. The Platform is open to all disciplines. The majority of the members are active as visual and design artists in the broad sense of the word. Other members engage in theatre, music or literature. The Platform receives a modest subsidy from the municipality of Wageningen. For the year 2008 it was approximately €8.000.

Goals
The Platform wishes to support and promote the local professional artists and to enhance the art climate in and around Wageningen. The Platform also wishes to play an active role in the local society and to act as an art related liaison between the municipality, organizations, companies and the public at large.

Furthering the interests
Through formal and informal channels the board furthers the interests of The Platform members. Several board members are also engaged in other social and cultural/artistic organizations in and outside Wageningen. The Platform also works together with Wageningen University and Research Centre.

Expositions and studios
Members have their studios in and around Wageningen. Like in many other places, artists from Wageningen also find it difficult to obtain affordable workspaces available for the long term. Often, temporary unoccupied buildings are given in use, before these are demolished or renovated. Although The Platform does not dispose of a gallery of its own, it does possess a complete gallery inventory that is available to the members. Members can also request financial aid from The Platform in order to organize expositions and art projects.
